Who Are Brunel Walking Group?

Brunel Walking Group was formed in 1999 to promote walking to people in their 20's and 30's. This has been very successful and we have now grown to over 200 members. Our membership includes people who enjoy all levels of walking, from 4/5 mile strolls to 17 mile hikes in the Welsh hills. Each walk is led by a volunteer leader and almost all have been pre-walked. The group relies on our members to lead walks for our programme, we aim to offer walks every weekend. The most people on one walk is 53 people although 20(ish) is more typical.

What Are The Benefits Of Joining Brunel?

Walking is a healthly and enjoyable hobby, particularly during these cash conscious times.

Are Potential New Members Welcome?

On every programme we offer a New Members Walk, these walks are specially planned to be suitable for any potential members of Brunel Walking Group, i.e. they will be short and usually take place within, or not far from, Bristol. They also offer the opportunity for you to ask questions about the group. However, potential new members are welcome on any Brunel walk, not just the New Members’ Walks.

Do You Organise Any Social Events?

Brunel host a monthly pub night, this is currently held at the Naval Volunteer in King St on the last Friday of the month (please check the programme for full details). We also arrange meals out, cinema evenings, pub crawls and weekends away. Any social events will be added to our programme.

I Am Over 40 And Would Like To Join?

Brunel Walking Group is primarily aimed at people in their 20's and 30's and would like everyone to respect this. We have formed a splinter group for walkers in their 40's and early 50's called Brunel Plus.

I Do Not Drive, Can I Still Join Brunel?

Most walks start with a meeting point in Central Bristol. We'll then arrange car sharing to wherever the walk is due to start. Travelling costs, including petrol and parking, are split between whoever is travelling in the car.
